About Me
Hi! I’m John Park, an Executive Producer of National News for Spectrum News+. I specialize in writing, visual storytelling, audio & video production, social media management, and photography.
I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina with a keen interest in creating videos and taking photos. Building my skills from a young age, my first photos were published by the Associated Press in 2008. I pursued my interest in journalism and won a Suncoast Emmy for Technical Achievement in 2013 for coverage of the Sinking of the USS Mohawk CGC off of Sanibel Island, Florida.
I applied myself at Appalachian State University as a reporter, anchor, and producer for AppTV. Our programming connected rural communities in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. The award-winning Appalachian Weekly News team explored local issues in the High Country, the impacts national elections on our community, and remotely covered the COVID-19 pandemic.
I graduated in August of 2020 with Bachelor of Science in Communication, Electronic Media & Broadcasting. Shortly after, I began my professional career as a producer with Spectrum News 1 in Louisville, Kentucky. In my 2.5 years living in the Bluegrass State, I covered major stories like the 2020 Breonna Taylor protests, several Kentucky Derby races, and major weather disasters.
In January 2023, I joined the Spectrum News National team in St. Petersburg, Florida. I worked initially as a desk producer before becoming the noon show producer for the newly launched Spectrum News+ streaming platform.
I was promoted in 2025 to Executive Producer, overseeing the weekday morning newscast at SN+. In my current role, I’m responsible for a team of producers, reporters, and various editorial staff to deliver high quality shows each day along with providing breaking news coverage to our Spectrum News affiliates.
